Upcoming Races & Major Concerts at the Circuit of the Americas
April 11, 2013
So you want to check out everything that Austin’s brand new, super-massive entertainment complex has to offer? Yes, it’s more than just a race car track – the Circuit of the Americas is also a concert venue, conference center, 5K circuit, plus a bunch of other good stuff that’s still in the works. If you haven’t been, this summer is a great time to drive just south of the airport for a concert at the rad glow stick of a landmark, the Austin360 Amphitheater. Upcoming highlights range from the mosh-worthy Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival (Aug. 2), radio faves like The Lumineers (April 26), Maroon 5 (Sep. 18) and Mumford & Sons (June 8 & 9), to dependable classics from Jimmy Buffett (May 2), (and, depending on your demographic, the Dave Matthews Band [May 21]). Shows from heavy hitters that have just been announced: Iron Maiden (Sep. 10) and Lil Wayne with T.I. and Future (Aug. 17). You can buy tickets to all of these concerts via our partners at TicketCity.com.
But the racing… you have to go for the racing. This is a multimillion-dollar motorsports circuit, after all. After the packed Formula 1 US Grand Prix last November, COTA has hosted GRAND-AM, various private track & company days, and is now preparing for MotoGP to race at the Red Bull Grand Prix of the Americas (April 19-21). This event is considered by many to be the two-wheeled equivalent of the prestigious Formula 1 race, though some prefer the more relaxed crowd at MotoGP. Better get your tickets soon so you can find out for yourself!
Other major motorsports events to keep an eye on:
- American Le Mans/FIA World Endurance Championship (Sep. 21-22)
- Australian V8 Supercars (May 17-19)
- 2013 US Formula 1 Grand Prix (Nov. 15-17)
